Surely not every single one of the Sampson players are unredeemable.

We should keep this kid - he's going to do well.

I hope we can keep him. He will be our best player next year and possibly the next three. He needs to be put on a new path if there is any truth at all that he too is having problems with his grades and is not going to class. If these are changes he needs to make and is not willing, then he needs to be shown the door just like the rest of Sampson's slackers. Coach Crean just needs to ask himself in these situations, "What Would Bobby Do?"

The talk from some coaches around the league is that Indiana doesn't really have a player to build around, and even Emmanuel Negedu — if he ended up at IU — wouldn't fill that need.

Jordan Crawford is probably the closest thing Tom Crean has to a guy who can carry Indiana through tough times. He thrived last year against Kentucky, when Eric Gordon sat out with a back injury. At times Crawford and Gordon seemed to be redundant; Crawford clearly felt most comfortable when he had more freedom within the offense and was challenged to be a scorer.

He'd certainly find himself in that situation if he stayed this year.

But the rest of his recruiting class has departed, as has the coaching staff responsible for brining him there. It'd be like you going to work one day to find that the majority of your co-workers and bosses were gone, and you don't necessarily agree with how they were dismissed by the owners.

If you had the option of jumping to another, similar job with bosses and owners you felt you had a better relationship with, wouldn't you at least contemplate making the move?

I'm all for keeping him on one condition, or maybe it's two. Don't let him play the point, or teach him how to dribble. I like JC as much as anyone and can see his great upside, but I was pulling my hair out watching him turn the ball over time after time on palming and traveling calls.

Chris,

I certainly understand why JC might not agree with the dismissal of his friends and team mates. However, if everyone at my work didn't do their job, failed to listen to their superiors, violated team rules, and, in some cases, the law, I would have to begrudgingly accept their fate, despite my relationship with them. If he were to feel that jumping to Detroit is a good move for him, then I might question his reasoning. My feeling about the prospect of JC leaving is analogous to his feeling about his team mates abrupt exit, I may not like it, but I would ultimately have to accept it.

I hope that JC can see that these players had to go. I hope he can also see that IU fans want him here. We are pulling for him academically and hoping that he chooses to study and fly right, so that he can get a degree and play ball for the Indiana Hoosiers.

Yeah well that's not happening anymore!

Man, if he goes to Detroit I'll dislike McCallum even more. Especially after the Holman fiasco.
